OUR AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

Relationships- Developing and maintaining good relationships is central to improving outcomes for our young people. We aim to create an environment in which young people feel their needs are being heard and understood. This requires integrity, honesty and skill. We build strong positive relationships with the young people so they are able to feel a sense of security. We also recognise the importance of children’s relationships with family and friends and will encourage and actively promote contact with these important people (subject to their care plan) in order to retain their links with the past and to facilitate the transition into adulthood.

Independence – We support our young people to optimize their abilities to function and to make their own choices in all aspects of their lives in a safe manner.

Safeguarding – We Safeguard our young people and take a proportionate approach to risk that minimises the risk of harm but also allows them to experience positive growth and development. We work with the young people, in order for them to be able to identify what is a safe and appropriate relationship, through intense focused work.

We will ensure that each young person’s well-being and health needs are properly met and monitored.

Our staff receive appropriate training and support to ensure that they are in touch with the needs of the children and young people we care for and have the necessary skills to meet those needs to be able to safeguard themselves and the young people.

Empower – We empower our young people to believe in their own abilities and potential for positive growth.  We Focus on a young person’s strengths and use these as a basis to create achievable targets that address difficulties.

Achieve –We believe education is the key to life chances for looked after young people and will make every effort to encourage and support young people to take advantage of the educational opportunities they have. We support the belief that young people where possible attend mainstream education and will offer practical help and support to schools to maintain placements. In order for them to achieve their goals and prepare them for a positive future.

Believe- We use verbal praise throughout with our young people and reward positive behaviours so the young people are able to recognise their achievements and start to believe in themselves. We promote a can-do attitude throughout our homes.

Opportunities – We create opportunities for all interests in both leisure and professional careers.  We support our young people in locating any hobbies or interests and educational sources. We will ensure that each child and young person has a robust education programme which supports their individual needs so they are encouraged and supported to reach their fullest potential.

We also ensure that we listen to our staff team and any development needs they feel they would like to gain, we support them to gain this whether as an individual or as a whole team.

Views – We listen to our young people and encourage them to be involved in all aspects of their care. We have consultation meetings as a group with our young people on a weekly basis and always express to the young people that we are always here to listen to their views wishes and feelings.
